It's currently the coldest morning of the year, and I've just been out to replenish the water dishes at the Home Reserve, ready for this morning's influx of needy residents.
I will of course have to replenish this numerous times while the temperature remains so low - please do ensure that you too keep fresh water available for the birds all year around, but especially during the cold winter months.
To help stop the water re-freezing, you can float a small rubber ball in the water container, and it's bobbing about can keep the liquid nourishment available that much longer than a plain bowl. However, you must NEVER put antifreeze or salt into water, as this is toxic to birds and many mammals.
