What a lovely surprise to greet me at the gate this morning; two ladies from one of the local running groups had brought a box of money raised from their latest event, totalling £81.66.
Sorry if I was a little bleary-eyed; far from celebrating the New Year in; I had been sandbagging properties in the town centre in the small hours, and we had been put on imminent flooding alert at work by the Environment Agency, so I only had about four of my usual six hours sleep.
I will make sure this kind gift goes directly to where it is needed the most ... keeping the birds fed as a cold spell will be upon us from this evening. Please pass my grateful thanks onto the rest of the group, Julie.
Happy New Year everyone!
Nigel
