It's been a busy week for these three tawny owlets.
The severe storm last Friday evening saw them dislodged from the nest and come tumbling to the ground. Two were found in a weakened, drenched and disheveled state over the next 36 hours, and the third one was found a day later in the roadside outside the yard having sustained an injury to its beak.
Alas there was no possibility to return this trio to the nest, and we hope that the remaining siblings in the nest will now thrive with less competition for food.
We pass our grateful thanks to Meltham Wildlife Rescue for taking these owlets in from the vets they were taken to, they were directly in Three Owls care for just 24hrs overnight and during the 3hr transfer up to Wigton, onto our hospitals which are under the expert care of Knoxwood Wildlife Rescue. Thank you everyone for your individual efforts - you have saved these beautiful birds lives!
All being well, they will return to the wild this August.
